Special Education

Special Education Department

Special education is a child-centered program added to the regular school program to meet the needs of students with disabilities. A full continuum of special education services is available within the district.

The purpose of IDEA, federal special education law, is to ensure that all children with disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public education (FAPE) that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living.
